Tea Time Jazz

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA), through the Management of La Place Carenage held a launch today for Tea Time Jazz 2012. For the fifteenth year running, La Place Carenage will host its annual Tea Time Jazz as part of the official Calendar of Events of the St. Lucia Jazz Festival. Tea Time Jazz which is a series of free concerts will be held on Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th May 2012 and would feature top notch local performances and of course its signature complimentary tea, coffee and light snacks can be enjoyed by patrons as they take in the music and the ambience.

Airport Security Management Course

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) in collaboration with the Embassy of the United States of America and the Ministry of External Affairs, International Trade and Civil Aviation have embarked on a one week training course for Airport Security Personnel on Airport Security Management at the Bay Garden Resorts Conference room.

SLASPA Participates in Global Entrepreneurship Week

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) participated in Global Entrepreneur Week (GEW) which was celebrated by more than 120 countries across the World from November 14th, ‐ 18th, 2011. The Internal Auditor, Mr. Cuthbert Nathoniel represented SLASPA at a panel discussion organized by the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) and the Saint Lucia Chamber of Commerce and entitled "Entrepreneurship: Personal and Economic Development & Impact" which was held at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College to commemorate GEW.

SLASPA Awards Tertiary Scholarships

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) in a ceremony earlier this year, recognized the achievements of incoming and outgoing scholarship holders. At this ceremony, the Employee Development Section made the announcement that SLASPA would also be offering two Tertiary Level scholarships tenable at Sir Arthur Lewis Community College both Northern and Southern Division. These scholarships will be awarded each year to two children of SLASPA's Staff who performed remarkably well at the CXC Examinations.

SLASPA Celebrates International Day of the Air Traffic Controller

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) celebrated International Day of the Air Traffic Controller along with the rest of the world on October 20th, 2011. The 20th of October every year is designated as the International Day of the Air Traffic Controller. The job of an Air Traffic Controller is to keep a safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic and to prevent collisions between aircraft and any other object.

SLASPA Holds First Customer Service Graduation Ceremony for Port Police in the South

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) held a graduation ceremony for over 60 Port Police Officers who participated in a series of specialized training sessions in customer service in August and September 2011. Facilitated by SLASPA'S in‐house customer service trainer, Ms. Dona Regis, Director of Marketing and Product Development, the training was delivered to Officers based at the Hewanorra International Airport and the Vieux Fort Seaport.

SLASPA Holds Emergency Exercise at Sea

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) held a simulation emergency exercise today at sea to test the preparedness and response capabilities of the various response agencies. The simulation consisted of a plane crash at sea which enabled SLASPA to test the preparedness of George F. L. Charles Airport, Maritime Division and Port Police.

SLASPA Makes Commitment to Employees Children

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) recognized five deserving students at an awards ceremony last week at SLASPA's Headquarters Conference Room. These students are recipients of SLASPA's yearly scholarships, which are awarded to high achievers who sat the Common Entrance Examination. In addition, SLASPA recognized the achievements of three outgoing scholarship holders who successfully completed their CXC examinations and gained accepted into Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.

SLASPA Simulates Emergency Exercise at La Place Carenage

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) held a simulation emergency exercise today at La Place Carenage Duty Free Shopping Mall to test the preparedness and response capabilities of the various response agencies. The simulation consisted of a fire breaking out at the facility which in turn caused the central Air Condition System to ignite and explode, toxic fumes were reportedly leaked into the building via the AC duct and patrons and staff were complained of dizziness, whilst others fainted.
