The restriction was extended to include Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, Japan, Italy and Singapore on Wednesday February 26, 2020 at 12 a.m. Effective March 17, 2020, further travel restrictions were placed on travel from Spain, Mainland France, Germany, Iran and the United Kingdom.

The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Port Authority (SLASPA) is currently working with the Government of Saint Lucia through the Ministry of Health to reduce the opportunities for viral transmission at our air and seaport facilities. Towards this end, SLASPA has actioned it’s infectious and communicable diseases management plan and has activated preventative measures. We are providing the necessary support to Port Health officials, Immigration and Customs regarding passenger screening.

In keeping with the defined protocols of the Ministry of Health, all arriving passengers from the restricted countries are required to self-quarantine for 14 days.
We have institutionalized the following measures to assist with the Ministry of Health – led efforts to curtail the spread of this viral pandemic.
  • Increased the frequency of cleaning activities with particular emphasis on high traffic areas i.e. areas with elevated risks for viral contact at all our facilities.
  • Hand sanitizers have been installed at strategic points throughout our facilities.
  • Updated our digital screens with relevant COVID-19 information.
  • Improved our quarantine facility to meet the needs of health officials to assess passengers travelling from high-risk areas or those who are exhibiting symptoms of illness.
  • Broadcast COVID-19 related messaging on the PA systems throughout our facilities.
  • Distributed proper hygiene fliers and posters to staff and customers at all facilities.
  • Continue to dialogue with cleaning and janitorial service providers to ensure adherence to the increased cleaning frequency and conformance with best cleaning practices and the correct use of chemicals.
Play your part! What should you do?
We encourage all customers to follow the prescribed preventative measures to reduce the spread of this disease. The most effective ways to protect yourself and others against COVID-19 are to:
  • Frequently washing of hands at least 20 seconds with soap and running water.
  • If soap and water is unavailable, use an alcohol based hand sanitizer of at least 70%.
  • Cover your cough with the bend of elbow or tissue.
  • Discard used tissue in bathroom bins.
  • Maintain a distance of at least one meter (three feet) from people who are coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
