Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia – April 21, 2026 — Travelers passing through Hewanorra International Airport (HIA) can now enjoy greater convenience with the installation of a state-of-the-art mobile phone charging station, marking a key step in the modernisation of the island’s transportation infrastructure.
Commissioned on April 16th, 2026, through a partnership with Promotech Inc., the charging station features 12 charging ports, including two wireless charging pads and two dedicated laptop charging outlets. This initiative is part of the Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority's broader push to enhance the passenger experience and align airport amenities with international standards.
Speaking on the development, Mr. Chester Aimable, Deputy Airport Manager at HIA, emphasized the importance of modern amenities in today’s travel environment:
“Today’s traveler expects seamless connectivity at every stage of their journey. Installing this charging station ensures our passengers remain powered and connected, reflecting our commitment to continuous improvement at Hewanorra International Airport.”
Mr. Karim Sifflet, Senior Manager for Marketing, Business Development, and Customer Care at SLASPA, underscored the project’s strategic significance:
“This initiative is about more than convenience; it reflects our broader vision to modernize Saint Lucia’s Ports of Entry. By investing in passenger-centric solutions, we are strengthening our competitive position as a premier destination in the region.”
The rollout is only the beginning. Additional charging stations are scheduled to be installed at George F. L. Charles Airport (GFLCA) and the island’s main ferry terminal in the coming weeks, further extending the reach of this modernization initiative.
